Athletics

Portugal has the ideal climate for athletes looking for warm weather winter training. There are great facilities to be found all over the country, such as:

Açoteias, Algarve

Training facilities can be found near Falésia beach providing superior training facilities for groups looking for a running and triathlon venue in a warm weather climate. It is a long established warm weather training venue for international track & field athletes. Cycling

Portugal in general offers many great opportunities for the cycling enthusiast, from scenic coastal rides to specially adapted routes , such as the one in and around Vilamoura, giving the majority of the resort easy access by bike to the beach and marina.

Football

Football is by far the most popular sport amongst the Portuguese. Portugal has produced some legends of the game over the years from Eusebio to the current ballon d’or winner Cristiano Ronaldo. The most famous Portuguese football clubs are Porto, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica. The Algarve has a long tradition of attracting clubs and national sides from all over the world looking for winter training camps and pre tournament bases, largely thanks to the excellent weather and 5 star facilities to be found here.

Golf

The Algarve has been attracting many discerning golfers for almost three decades. The main golf season is from late autumn to late spring. Winters are mild and golfers from northern European countries can enjoy warm, sunny days and keep their swings smooth at a time when their home courses are unplayable.
